Accommodation Support in Ireland

Compared to many leading academic hubs worldwide, Dublin — the capital of Ireland — is known for its vibrant lifestyle, yet Irish cities are still more affordable than other popular study destinations like the UK. Students have various accommodation options to choose from. Many opt for on-campus housing available in most universities and colleges. However, campus residences are often in high demand, can be costly, and are sometimes challenging to secure.

Most academic institutions provide residence halls or shared apartments that typically accommodate four to eight students. These setups usually offer private bedrooms alongside shared kitchens, living areas, and bathrooms. Campus accommodation fees are generally paid in two installments — one in September and another in February — and monthly payments are rarely accepted. Students are usually required to pay a one-month rent deposit upfront, which is refundable upon leaving. Utilities such as heating may be billed separately, though many halls include them in the rent and deduct any excess usage from the deposit. Detailed housing application guidelines are available through each university or college.

The average living cost for a student in Ireland ranges from €7,000 to €12,000 per academic year. This budget covers rent, utilities, laundry, books, healthcare, transportation, and personal expenses — but excludes tuition fees. Your actual expenses will depend on your lifestyle, accommodation type, and study location. One-time purchases, such as bedding, kitchen essentials, or a mobile phone, should also be factored into your budget, along with any travel plans during the year.
